Continuing Confidence in Hospitality, Catering and Licensed Property Market
Barry Crux & Company are pleased to be able to report the successful completion of several recent transactions. These have involved a conventional Village inn, having food offering; a city centre Bar, also with a food offering; and a city centre Wine Bar. These sales indicate continuing levels of confidence in the licensed and catering sectors in particular, with each sale having completed in a timely fashion.
Plonkers Wine Bar, situated close to King’s Staith, was sold in July 2022. Plonkers is a long and extremely well-established business, with the owners, Malcolm and Eileen Goodwin along with their daughter Leanne, having operated it for 30 years or so. It in an extremely popular outlet, not only with visitors to the city but also a very long and well-established local trade. It comprises a ground floor, open plan bar area, together with a first-floor dining facility and kitchen. It also makes use of King’s Staith, where there is an outside area for tables and chairs.
The Victoria Inn at Wetwang has also sold, this completing in October. The Inn is situated on the main York to Driffield and Bridlington Road and is prominently positioned there. It is able to draw not only passing trade, from traffic heading to the coast and back, but also from the wider area generally. It is therefore a convenient stopping-off point for travellers, but also serves an important local function to the village. It is a focal point of much to the activity to Wetwang. The Inn comprises a Lounge Bar, Bar Area, and Dining/Formal Restaurant. This is complemented but having a good-sized living accommodation.
Barry Crux & Company were also instrumental in helping the sale of Wildes Wine Bar to proceed, on behalf of the Landlord. The trading name of Wildes will now be lost, as the new operators, Adam Johnson and Danny Victory will be re-opening, following a refurbishment, and trading as Izakaya. They will be building on their extensive experience as caterers, offering a Japanese contemporary menu. We wish them every success with this venture.
